Cristina was raised in Florida. She completed her dissertation work at Duke University in the lab of George Truskey, using rapidly producible tissue-engineered blood vessels to develop a microphysiological system for human drug and toxicity testing. Outside the lab, Cristina enjoys spending time outside, watching stand-up comedy specials and movies (but only good ones), and unveiling her hidden talent as a slightly above-average bowler.
